Today in my writing class, where most of my critical and useful thinking happens, I had a realization. I have an addiction. No not to cigarettes, alcohol, or narcotics like most college kids. I have an addiction to Television. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of friends and I go out and do things every now and again, but the only things I can't miss each week are my shows. Mondays it's HIMYM, Wednesdays its Modern Family, and Thursdays its Community/The Big Bang Theory/30 Rock. TV is more than just an addiction, it's another world for me. This may be due to the fact that Televison writing is what I want to do with my life. I have a certain way of connecting with TV that I have only seen in one other person. His name is Abed and he's in the show Community. He also has this excentric interest in television. In season 2 episode 1 he has a line that I feel represents how I feel about me right now. He says "I can tell life from TV, TV makes sense, it has structure, logic, rules." TV just interests me more than real life right now. It's consistant and interesting every week. Hopefully one day I'll be turning this weird interest into a hit shows. Maybe not. Who knows?
